Data & sources
How we choose sources, what we may do with them, and how to ask us to remove information.
How we choose sources
We use public registers, regulators' published lists, and organisations' own websites and announcements, where their terms allow our use. Before we read a source for the first time we check its terms and record what we may do with it.
What the licence classes mean
- Open data: published under an open licence (for example the Open Government Licence or Creative Commons BY). We may reuse it with attribution.
- Facts with a link: we state the fact in our own words and link to the page. We never copy the page.
- Internal only: used to check or rank, never shown to clients.
- Blocked: not used.
The people rule
We list organisations. We name a person only where their own organisation names them, in their work role, on its own website, and we keep the page and date we read. At most three people per organisation. We don't buy contact lists, use people databases or social networks, or guess email addresses.
Opting out, and removal
To have information about you or your organisation removed, or to object to our use of it, email privacy@porthcurno.io or hello@porthcurno.io. We act within 30 days and keep a short suppression record so it doesn't come back.
Our lawful basis
Legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): helping organisations find others with a dated, public reason to talk. Our legitimate interests assessment is available on request.
